It’s Time to Hold the Big Banks Accountable

Join thousands of ordinary Americans in Chicago on Oct. 27 as we tell the American Bankers Association—Enough is Enough!

With their reckless behavior and unchecked greed, big banks caused the most severe economic crisis since the Great Depression.  We were told we had to bail the big banks out so they would start putting money back into our communities—and our jobs and our homes would be saved.

For every man, woman, and child in the United States, ordinary Americans gave the big banks $15,000.  But WallStreet didn’t hold up their end of the bargain.  The financial giants have bounced back, but they have done nothing to fix the overall economy that they crashed.

The big banks and the politicians need to hear us loud and clear.

This will be as big a failure as the 'tea parties' that were setup a while back that did nothing.

Stoping so short sighted people - we need a revolution of epic proportions, not some bullshit little sissy girl march.

End the Fed! Commercial banks are just an extension of the true power holders. Don't be fooled by scapegoats. The true evil and source of calamity is the Federal Reserve. Bailouts are a hidden form of taxation, all for the sake of making the friends of the Fed richer.

Yes. Keep deleting posts you don't agree with. I hope it snows on your "rally."

Recorded message calls are illegal in the United States. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and hopefully they will be contacting you soon.

First let me say in response to the right wingers above that didn't leave a name, The lord says not to be the first to throw stones, Do unto others... Nice people. You guys are always so negative about every issue out there!
maybe you need some real problems to focus on.
Anyhow, I think this is an awesome idea. I can not march myself because I am disabled, but I will be there in spirit! I think it is important to keep this issue in the public eye. These guys are all crooks! And I do agree with Aug that we need to look at the feds and Mr Paulsen as well! There is definitely someone on the other side that got this money for them, what about the congress, the one that was there at the time, cause in case you forgot this all happened under the Bush administration.
But we low life losers should not let them forget about this! Find out who is responsible, and make sure they do not get back in office on the next election. Stay together we are all on the same side, the middle class!
I am praying for good weather!

      Hey Lynn,

Make more assumptions. I am not a "right winger." I voted for Obama. I simply don't like organizations that don't have the guts to call in person. The SEIU apparently is not up to speed on the legality of recorded message calls. Then again, they are a dying organization. They probably can't find enough members to make the real phone calls. But I'm sure completely baseless fear mongering in a recorded message and on this crappy website should get lots of really intelligent people to back their cause. I'm praying for rain.

You fuckers called my cell phone. I am reporting you to the FTC.
      October 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJohnn
Why are you illegally calling my cell phone. You fuckers should get bent.

Recorded message calls are illegal in the United States.

I have filed a complaint with the FTC and hopefully you will soon be put out of operation.

Here is the url to submit your own complaint to the FTC. This PAC will be stopped from making these calls.

Looks like you guys have garnered a lot of support here. Your unsolicited calls and baseless accusations have really paid off for your "cause." The parade/march/protest thingy is bound to be a roaring success.

Positive energy is always more powerful than negative. Never mind to the 'FTC' posters out there - just another case of people not being able to attend to the real issue of banks stealing taxpayer money. I will be there at the march even though I live in Michigan because it is important for us to stand TOGETHER to change our society. We can make real change happen by not allowing fear to divide us. We are all in this together!! Stand up for your America and we can make this happen!!
      October 16, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterStanding Together
I want to attend, but the Showdown in Chicago website, that I tried to register on, said the deadline was Oct 16!!!! & also stated that if not registered, would be turned away!!! I live over 100 miles away, but planned on attending & still tried to register on Oct 19.
So far no response -- is marching one of my constituional rite!!

I'm not too happy getting calls on my Business Cell Phone about these events, since I DID NOT SIGN UP, nor did I give permission to you guys to call and solicit! WTF? Not cool!

      Keep on the pressure!

Why are you calling me on my cell phone with your recorded message? I don't like being contacted w/ your recorded messages and by associated, now don't like you or your cause.
      October 20, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAnetka
      Theresa,

I was thrown off by the mandatory registration, too, but if you read the bottom of the 'Details' page at showdowninchicago.org, it says you don't need to register for the march on Tuesday. I guess they just want to know how many people are attending the educational session and similar events.

      Cheers.

You guys just called my home phone and interrupted dinner. you've been doing it every day for the past week. It comes up 'private caller' I just happened to answer it tonight out of curiosity. You guys are lame for calling the way you do. and I hope your sissy march and rally fail miserably. In fact I may call the White House in opposition to your cause. Thanks to the person that posted the link to the FTC. I am going to file a complaint as well.
      October 20, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJon D.
Does anyone have the phone number for these idiots? I tried to file a complaint and they need a phone number. Since it came up private I don't know what it is. They have no contact minfo on their website which just goes to show they know what they are doing is wrong. What a bunch of Pussies.
